  • Increase potassium and cut salt to reduce stroke risk

There's an interesting article on the BBC website today

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-22025341

It leads me to wonder / ask how much salt do we all have in our daily diets?

Do you ever add salt to foods?

Are you aware of how much salt is in the foods you buy?

It really highlights how important it is to cook your own meals from scratch so you know how much salt is in everything you eat :-)

It would definitely be an interesting exercise to record a food diary, even for one day, specifically looking at salt intake.

An addition to this from my good GP friend is that you shouldn't substitute salt for losalt - so I think it's best to rely on fruit and veg for potassium and just be sensible with normal salt in order to keep daily intake within guidelines!
